Turkish pita bread

Turkish pita bread with sesame seeds is quite simple and uncomplicated, goes well with many dishes, perfect as sandwich bread

  • 100 ml lukewarm milk
  • 150 ml lukewarm water
  • 500 g flour
  • 0,5 tsp sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 PK or 1 tbsp yeast
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil


  • 1 egg yolk
  • 3 tablespoons yogurt
  • SESAM.


IN a muddler mix the yeast with. Stir lukewarm water, milk, olive oil and sugar until smooth, let stand 5 minutes.

Add flour gradually and knead until smooth.

The dough should be nice and soft and still slightly sticky, if the dough is too sticky you can add a little more flour.

Finally, continue kneading with your hands and shape the dough into a ball. 

Cover with a kitchen towel and let rise for 40 minutes.

Cut dough into 4 pieces. Then shape into balls.

Place pita bread on baking sheet, gently flatten dough with hand.



Cover with a kitchen towel and let rise for 15 minutes.

Whisk egg with yogurt and spread on pita bread. Press small holes in the dough with your fingers and sprinkle with sesame seeds and black cumin.

Bake in a hot oven 200 degrees for 12-13 minutes.
